Dear GLORBtrottters!
We are doing great! We are working hard on all fronts and are happy to say that we are on schedule and have not encountered any issues so far (knock on wood). Below are some exclusive sneak peeks!
🔧 1) Manufacturing update — we’re molding
The tools are made, and our factory is now starting the pre-production of GLORBs. This is a huge milestone. These are test units, and we will produce a pre-production batch of 120 GLORBs.
These units will be sent to content creators and other creatives for reviews and marketing. We will also keep some for upcoming events and to decorate our new office (which is currently remarkably GLORB-free).
As you can see from the factory footage, the units are a bit too shiny as the final surface finish of the tools is not yet complete. However, we are progressing smoothly and hoping for no major setbacks.
This does not mean you will get your GLORBs earlier — there are still stages left (manufacturing, certifications, logistics), but rest assured we are on schedule.
✈️ 2) Alex’s trip to the factory — expect video updates soon
Alex is heading to China for about 3 weeks to oversee pre-production. He will be filming and documenting everything related to manufacturing, plus sharing insights into the day-to-day.
We’ll post bursts of updates on Kickstarter and more frequently in the community channels.
🔄 3) Add-on update — research will speed up in China
While Alex is in China, he will also oversee the first batch of packaging we have designed. It will also be easier to investigate solutions for some of the add-ons you voted on — most notably the white channel upgrade and the ceiling mount power supply. We’ll share clearer answers on production costs, timelines, and engineering once we have them.
📝 4) BackerKit update — 83% complete
BackerKit surveys have been out for two weeks and reached 83% completion — well done!
We’ll close surveys on August 30, 2024 and charge cards on Monday, September 2. Until then you can change your order, update shipping address, and update card details.
Reminder: if you do not complete the survey BackerKit sent you, we will not be able to send you your GLORBs.
Many of you are getting extra GLORBs — thank you. The opportunity to add units at pledge-tier prices remains available until the end of the survey.
