Mass production is in full swing and the first batch of GLORBs is sent!

🏭 1) Production insights

Production rate increased: we’re off to a great start.

The factory has been able to increase production from 500 to around 1000 GLORBs per week. This means we can speed up the shipping process, filling and sending a container each week to get your GLORBs to you, our amazing backers.

Alex back in Sweden, Jana still at the factory

Alex is back in Sweden after working with the factory team, creating tools to streamline production, and setting up quality control procedures and much more. Jana will stay a few more weeks to oversee production and ensure smooth communication and collaboration between us and the factory.

There are still things that potentially can go wrong so having her on-site is key to addressing any potential issues, making sure the factory team has all they need and to keep everything on track.

A look inside the production

Here’s a quick glimpse behind the scenes of the first week of mass-producing GLORBs. There are GLORBs everywhere!

Flashing station

For the tech enthusiasts out there, we’ve built a flashing station that can install firmware onto 8 PCBs simultaneously.

📦 2) Shipping timelines

We know it has been a bit of a wait — but here is an initial timeline for shipping, with the first 2 batches verified and the following batches still being subject to change.

Shipping complications

Covid-19: since the pandemic, there have been fluctuations in how companies book carriers and shipping routes have been rearranged. This has led to complications between our manufacturer and forwarder, making it difficult to find space for our shipments. We expect this to be resolved by the end of the week.
Suez Canal disruption: longer delivery times for the EU are due to the ongoing situation in the Suez Canal, forcing global trade to take a detour around the Cape of Africa and adding several weeks to delivery times.

🚨 3) Last-minute BackerKit changes

Last-minute BackerKit address changes

Addresses are now locked, and order lists have been sent to our factory and logistics partner. If you need to update your address, please contact us ASAP. Units are already being shipped, so we will need to adjust info down the logistics line to ensure they reach the correct destination.

For those who haven't finished the survey or paid for shipping

Hard deadline: 25th October.

184 backers still haven’t completed the survey, even though many have already paid for their GLORBs. If you're one of them, please reach out immediately. Since shipping has started and the backer lists have been sent to the manufacturer, your unit may not make it into the same shipment as others in your region and will arrive in January the earliest.

We are so excited to have started shipping and that you soon have your GLORBs. It is happening!
